Eat Clean

Eating clean is eating foods in they're most natural form. So its avoiding processed food or foods with preservatives added sugar, fat or flavorings. This doesn't just mean cutting out fast foods and foods you'd automatically assume are bad for you. But things like cereal bars, white bread and butters.

I have to admit I do try and eat clean, but it doesn't always go to plan, it can be quiet difficult. But as I am dancing in the Irish dancing world championships next week I am trying to do everything to get my body as strong as possible.

The easiest way I find to 'eat clean' is swapping to wholemeal, steaming and boiling foods where ever possible, and swapping butter to avocado, stopping eating pastas and noodles instead trying alternatives like quinoa, snacking on berries and nuts and lastly not eating too much red meat swap to chicken and oily fish!

If your trying to loose weight as well as being healthy my top tip would be swapping three dinners a week to vegetable omelettes with a side salad. Its super quick and easy to eat plus gives your body a brake from meats while still having plenty of protein and is carb free.

Do any of you 'eat clean' what are your favorite meals and snacks?

Motivational Monday

Its the third week in January, don't you think time is just flying by at the moment! And if your anything like me those New Years resolutions are slowly dropping away, so when times get hard I like to look to the heavens for some much needed inspiration. Thankfully the Victoria's Secret angels always look fabulous and are there to make every girl envious!

So put down the chocolate and full fat latte, put those yoga pants and sports bras back on and lets whip these bodies into shape!

End of Summer Detox

We all become so health and diet obsessed leading up to summer in the hope of the perfect bikini holiday. But after weeks of festivals, holidays and clubbing I always feel I look worst for wears at the end of the summer than I do at the beginning. So for the next two weeks I'm sticking to a stick-ish diet. Its primarily to feel healthier, less lethargic, and improve my skin and hair. When ever I detox I do tend to loose a bit of weight but for me personally that's not my primary objective.
THE DIET

Breakfast:
One buttered bagel and a smoothie
(Its the best time of the day to have carbs as your metabolism will be at its fastest)

Lunch:
Option 1: A salad, with little dressing, with chicken, pawns, crayfish or tuna.
Option 2: Pasta salad
Option 3: Pita bread with salad and chicken
Option 4: Ryvita with fruit and cheese

Dinner:
Option 1: Two veg with chicken, turkey, salmon or sea bass
Option 2: Sushi

Snacks
(some are more healthy than others but I would normally allow myself around 3 a day)
Pistachios, pumpkin seeds, apple, popcorn, prawn crackers, poppadoms, blueberry muffin, English muffin, blueberries, carrot and celery batons, fruit salads, 4/5 chunks of chocolate, a small portion of cheese cake

Drinks:
Option 1: Green Tea, I much prefer this to normal tea but I know a lot of people do struggle with drinking this, as a treat I sometimes make pepermint flavoured one which I'd definitely recommend. If you really feel you need that caffeine boost have a black coffee
Option 2: One portion of fruit juice a day is fine, I suggest Cranberry as its packed with antioxidants
Option 3: Drink plenty of water!

I think its very important not to starve yourself, so please always diet sensibly, the skinniest people can still be unhealthy. Follow my efforts for the next two weeks on Twitter. And what are your top tips for staying healthy, does anyone else ever detox or diet?

Make Every Day Beautiful

Exam seasons approaching, the weathers being unkind, so sit back relax, be happy and look beautiful.

My Tips
1. Treat your self to a face mask rich in vitamin E. I love Liz Earl products, there a little pricey but definitely worth it.
2. Make your self a fruit salad, with all your favourites, its sweet, yummy and packed with antioxidants!
3. Deep condition your hair, I like to use Lee Staffords miracle growth as I'm trying to grow my hair
4. Tan up! Everyone looks fresher, healthier and feels better with a tan.
5. Lastly put on a good chick flick, Legally Blonde, Bridget Jones, 500 days of Summer, Mean girls etc and snuggle up with your best friend and a bowel of popcorn, surprisingly a healthy low in fat snack. And you'll work it off with all the laughter!

Health Kick

After polishing of a bottle of wine on Saturday night at the pub and a few lagers last night at a concert, I’m in need of a serious detox (especially as the Easter holidays are commencing soon, and I anticipate messiness)
I’m very happy with my size, so I’m not doing this to lose weight, just to brighten up and be healthy. So for the next couple of weeks I’m limiting myself to just one ‘goodie’ a day (chocolate, crisps, etc) and no fizzy drinks, trying to pack in as many antioxidants  as possible (green tea, fruit, veg and nuts) and remembering to be kind to my face meaning no face wipes, instead cleanser, exfoliator and facemask rich in vitamin E. Follow my efforts on Twitter
Any other tips?

Detoxing

After a week of drinking and going out due to celebrating my end of exams I need a detox.
I swear by green tea with 1/4 of a table spoon of honey, facial products rich in vitamin E, a  couple of hours of sunbathing during the week (in the summer), exercise (I do around 6 hours of dancing a week but in when trying to improve my fitness I've found nothing works as well as skipping) and taking a supplement of zinc. After two weeks you'll feel energinsed and look radient. My detox starts today.
Any other tips?
